Michael Suen

Michael Suen is an interaction designer and strategist who has worked with early-stage startups, colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations to develop playful user experiences and digital products. Michael graduated from Middlebury College with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. He began his career in journalism and design, before moving on to become a producer at the Learning Games Network, a non-profit educational game startup spun out from MIT, where he led content and brand strategy. In 2013, his team was recognized for their work on the ethical reasoning game Quandary, which was named Game of the Year at the Games For Change Festival in New York. In 2009, Michael founded the website 21st Century Boy, combining his interests in culture, creativity, and current affairs to report on developments in East Asia and its diaspora. His stories and work in educational games has been cited by TIME.com, Geekosystem.com, Giant Robot, Indymedia, Voice of America, and Kill Screen, among others. Michael has also led workshops on transmedia storytelling, social networking, and game-based learning at events such as HASTAC, Re:Humanities, the MIT Sandbox Summit, and the Games+Learning+Society Conference.
