About Seun
Seun Adebiyi is an inspiring advocate, attorney, and cancer survivor dedicated to fighting global health inequity. Just one week after graduating from Yale Law School in 2009, he was diagnosed with two rare and aggressive blood cancers, a moment that completely redefined his life’s path. Faced with the challenge of finding a life-saving stem cell transplant—a process far more difficult for people of African descent—Seun was inspired to create change. He launched Nigeria’s first bone marrow donor drive and founded the Bone Marrow Donors Registry in Nigeria, which has since grown into a vital organization and merged with a South African registry to form the first pan-African stem cell donor registry. This effort aims to recruit over 100,000 donors to save lives worldwide. Seun’s commitment to global health equity extends to his professional work at the American Cancer Society (ACS), where he directs the Global Scholars program. This initiative trains young leaders from developing nations to create and lead advocacy campaigns that improve cancer screening, treatment, and pain relief in their home countries. A lifelong athlete, Seun also achieved his Olympic dream by founding Nigeria’s first Winter Olympic federation, which allowed Nigeria to debut at the 2018 Winter Games. Although he ultimately did not compete, he carried the Olympic torch, symbolizing his journey to conquer the impossible.
