About Gypsy Sound Revolution

Cédric Leonardi is a talented drummer and music producer celebrated for his work with the Gypsy Kings and for creating the world-fusion group, the Gypsy Sound Revolution (GSR). Originally from the South of France, Cédric grew up immersed in the rumba music of the Camargue region, even touring with the legendary Gipsy Kings for 25 years. After moving to Los Angeles, Cédric was inspired to form the Gypsy Sound Revolution, which is focused on celebrating and preserving the global musical tradition of the Romani people. The band blends the energetic French rumba he mastered with the deeply traditional Indian alap and raga music from the Manganiyar gypsies of Rajasthan, who are considered the ancestors of all gypsy culture. This mix creates an ecstatic and unique Indo-Gypsy fusion that excites audiences worldwide. The band includes fellow Gypsy Kings alumni, notably members of the famous Reyes family dynasty, along with gifted artists from countries like India and Afghanistan. More than just a musical group, the Gypsy Sound Revolution is a cultural project dedicated to connecting gypsy artists from around the globe. Cédric’s goal is to keep this rich, nomadic musical heritage alive. His work has drawn attention for its cultural importance, leading to plans for a documentary film and philanthropic projects.
