About Shekinah

Dr. Shekinah Elmore is a physician dedicated to promoting equity and empathy in cancer care. As a recent graduate of the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program, she is uniquely positioned to understand the healthcare system from two perspectives: that of a doctor and that of a patient. Shekinah has openly shared her personal experience as a cancer patient while also being a medical provider. She has written about this journey in prestigious medical journals like the Journal of the American Medical Association and the New England Journal of Medicine. Through her writing, she highlights the importance of compassionate care and the need for doctors and patients to embrace uncertainty. Her work also has a global focus. While at Harvard Medical School, she received a Fulbright grant to work with Partners in Health in Rwanda. This experience allowed her to study how cancer patients in low-resource settings receive care. Throughout her residency, she continued to work on improving access to radiotherapy in these settings and has published her research in journals including the Journal of Global Oncology.
