Susie Baldwin

Dr. Susie Baldwin is a public health and preventive medicine physician dedicated to improving sexual and reproductive health, with a special focus on helping victims of human trafficking. She works as the Sexually Transmitted Disease Controller for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, where she leads programs to prevent and control sexually transmitted infections. Susie’s work extends far beyond her county role. She is a co-founder and president of HEAL Trafficking, a global network of professionals working to combat human trafficking. Her passion for this cause comes from her direct experience as a physician. She has a deep understanding of the health problems faced by survivors and works to improve their care through research and training. Her research has covered important topics like how to identify trafficking victims in healthcare settings and the psychological tactics that traffickers use. Throughout her career, Susie has held various leadership positions, including serving as the Medical Director for Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona and working as a doctor on the U.S.-Mexico border.
