Nafis is a startup advocate, technical evangelist, and full-stack hacker with 15 years of experience in the tech industry. His prior work includes a heavy user and product focus in mobile, social and consumer products, particularly those with large-scale backend systems. Nafis started his career in the dot-com era by designing cloud-based infrastructures for offline data storage and retrieval. During his time at the National Institutes of Health, he led evangelization efforts for semantic web-based medical bioinformatics and public health solutions, and was instrumental in coordinating standardization efforts including Section 508 compliance for user interfaces for distributed health informatics systems. At Nokia, Nafis re-architected the company’s massive provisioning and configuration backend services used by nearly a billion mobile devices. Most recently at Google, Nafis was a technical advisor to 25 of Google’s key partners that collectively contributed billions of dollars annually in ad revenue. He also represented Google for Entrepreneurs as a product expert and technology mentor to startup companies.
