As founder and CEO, Dr. Harris has led NextGxDx’s mission to assist clinicians and hospitals with tools to easily search, compare, and order genetic tests. The technology developed to support this mission has been used to organize and curate over 19,000 individual tests, leading to a more transparent and efficient market. Prior to forming NextGxDx, Dr. Harris led a project within Athena Diagnostics in 2010 to integrate Next Generation Sequencing technology into Athena’s clinical workflow. He was placed in this project through ThermoFisher Scientific’s leadership development program. Dr. Harris is deeply involved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and mentors two startup accelerator programs: JumpStart Foundry and HealthBox. He also serves on the Advisory Board for Vanderbilt University’s Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization. Dr. Harris has been recognized as one of Nashville’s Forty Under 40, and was awarded as one of 25 Health Care Heroes selected by the Chamber of Commerce for his contributions and leadership in the community. Dr. Harris earned three degrees from Vanderbilt University: a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology, a PhD in Cancer Biology, and a MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management.
