Jill Goldstein is a leading neuroscientist and a professor at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Her research is focused on a critical question: why do certain psychiatric and medical disorders, like depression or schizophrenia, affect men and women differently? She studies the important biological differences between sexes, including hormones and genetics, and how these differences impact the brain. A major part of her work explores how a mother’s health during pregnancy, including her hormones and immune system, can affect her child’s health throughout their life. Jill is the Executive Director of the Women, Heart and Brain Global Initiative, a program she launched to study sex differences in disorders of the heart and brain. This initiative brings together experts to conduct research and raise awareness about health issues that uniquely affect women. Her groundbreaking work is changing the way doctors think about and treat a wide range of illnesses, with the goal of creating more personalized and effective treatments for everyone.
