David Moinina Sengeh, a native of Sierra Leone, is a highly respected engineer, designer, and rapper who has become a powerful political leader in his home country. Since July 2023, he has served as the Chief Minister of Sierra Leone. Before this, he made significant changes as the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education and the nation’s first Chief Innovation Officer. David is a brilliant scientist who earned his PhD from the MIT Media Lab, where his research in biomechatronics focused on creating comfortable prosthetic sockets and wearable devices. His work aims to improve life for people with limb loss. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, where he studied how to make a stable tuberculosis vaccine for better lung delivery. A social entrepreneur, David is a co-founder and president of the international non-profit Global Minimum Inc., which runs programs like “Innovate Salone” to encourage innovation and business skills among African high school students. He has also used his passion for design as the lead for Nyali Clothing. His achievements have earned him major honors, including being a TED Senior Fellow and being named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. He is also the author of the 2023 book, Radical Inclusion.
