Celine Gounder is an internist, infectious diseases specialist, epidemiologist, journalist, and filmmaker. And, one of People Magazine’s 25 Women Changing the World in 2017. She’s written for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Guardian US, The Washington Post, Reuters, Quartz, Sports Illustrated, and VICE, and she is a frequent expert guest on major television news networks. She’s the host and producer of “In Sickness and in Health,” a new podcast on health and social justice. Celine is also on an “ill-health tour” of the country, caring for patients in disease hotspots—everywhere from Bellevue in NYC to Indian reservations to Appalachia. She was an Ebola aid worker in Guinea and has worked on TB/HIV throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Celine received her BA in Molecular Biology from Princeton, her MSc in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins, and her MD from the University of Washington. Celine was a resident at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellow at Johns Hopkins. She’s also a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Celine is a member of TEDMED's Editorial Advisory Board.
