Liz studied biomedical engineering at Yale University, where she served as director of Yale Demos, a volunteer program that performs science experiments in underprivileged elementary schools, and was elected publisher of the Yale Scientific, the oldest college science publication in the nation. In her spare time, Liz worked with classmates on independent projects funded by the engineering department – including a laparoscopic surgical probe. In order to enter an innovation challenge in 2011, the team designed a 3D imager to help detect skin cancer. To test the device, Liz served as principal investigator of a clinical study conducted at the Yale School of Medicine. In 2012, Liz co-founded 3Derm Systems, Inc. With Liz as CEO, 3Derm was chosen as one of 10 teams to participate in the Healthbox Boston 2013 startup incubator, and won the Innovator’s Award at the accelerator’s demo day in June. To date, the team has been awarded over $350,000 in grants and awards. Liz was featured in Boston’s 25 Under 25, and currently serves as the youngest principal investigator of a National Science Foundation SBIR grant.
