Oxitone is developing the world’s first bracelet health monitor for automated, continuous 24/7 supervision of patients with pulmonary, heart and sleep related diseases anytime, anywhere. Oxitone is the only device which enables measurement of blood oxygen level on your wrist in a continuous manner. A secret source is the proprietary blood sensing technology which exploits a wrist anatomic structure as the quasi-optical elements. Oxitone team has an experience in projects execution, products development and track records of two meaningful exits. We are on a mission to transform current episodic and reactive patient monitoring towards continuous and proactive medical supervision

Q: Please tell us how your business idea was conceived. Was there an "aha" moment or did it evolve gradually?

A: Only three hours after being discharged from a hospital, my father collapsed on the street from heart attack. My “aha” moment was realizing that only continuous 24/7 monitoring of patients' key vitals with high temporal resolution could predict and prevent this from happening again. So, I took my 15 years of experience in bio-sensors and medical devices to create Oxitone. 

Q: What's the most inventive, innovative, or disruptive aspect of your initiative?

A: The most inventive aspect is a trans-illumination pulse oximetry technology that enables measurements of blood oxygen saturation at the wrist area. The most innovative aspect is moving pulse oximetry to the wrist area. In combination with other key vitals taken from the wrist by the Oxitone, it enables continuous 24/7 out-patient monitoring anytime, anywhere, to generate Dynamic Health Status with preventive alerts. The most disruptive aspects are the elimination of uncomfortable and annoying fingertip sensors and the automation of patient management. 

Q: How will it help people live to their greatest potential or contribute to making the world healthier?

A: The Oxitone bracelet is a low-cost solution that offers the user incredible comfort and mobility in almost any daily activity. The patients gain awareness, confidence, and control of their lives, while physicians gain fully automated supervision of disease.

Q: Five years from now, what would you like to be able to say has been your most important contribution to health?

A: My contribution will have been saving millions of lives and dramatically reducing healthcare costs  through the transformation of costly episodic, reactive, and manual outpatient management towards low cost continuous, proactive, and automated outpatient supervision. 

Q: What single word or phrase best describes the culture of your startup and why?

A: Great motivation which is independent on incentives. Why? See above!

Leon Eisen
Founder and CEO
Leon is an inventor of the trans-illumination pulse oximetry. He is a Healthcare Transformer in the StartUp Health Academy, in partnership with GE. Prior to founding Oxitone Medical, Dr. Eisen headed as a CTO development of blood hemodynamics measurement system at Pulse-Or. Previously, he was working as a physicist, optical engineers and development contractor at number of medical device companies such as OrSense, Beta-O2 and Elfi-Tech. Dr. Eisen holds a Ph.D. in physics from Weizmann Institute of Science, israel. He is an author of dozens scientific papers and several patents.
