Chris Carnes, Ph.D. is the Chief Information Officer at
eTect. He is responsible for advancing eTect’s information system strategy and architecture and leads the company’s efforts in connecting patients to the digital health ecosystem. He has more than 20 patents filed in the area of clinical data capture, triggering systems, and clinical information presentation
Chris has more than twenty years of experience in the field of information technology. Prior to joining eTect, he served as Chief Scientist at Covidien, one of the world’s biggest medical companies. He has also been the President and Founder of Carnes consulting and helped move many large companies into the relational database world including NASA, Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs, FCC, FedEx, Circuit City, and Superior Telecommunications. His company wrote the transplant tracking software for UNOS that is still in use today. He was the Co-Founder and President of ICU DataSystems, a company that developed patient monitoring, data aggregation, and database solutions for hospitals. Under his leadership, ICU DataSystems was acquired by Somanetics and then by Covidien. Information technology invented and implemented by Chris has been installed in more than 50 hospitals in the US and India.
