The Wall Street Journal and Richard Saul Wurman are teaming to present TEDMED, a conference focused on the business and communication of medical technology, research and healthcare in the 21st Century. Like past Journal events, and previous TEDMED conferences and the TED conferences (created, chaired and formerly owned by Richard Saul Wurman), this will be an intimate, in-depth look at the frontiers of healthcare and medical technology. We are greatly excited about the combination of forces representing the world's preeminent business newspaper, The Wall Street Journal and the most creative force in the conference world, Richard Saul Wurman. "The intersection of healthcare and technology and all that implies has long been a core coverage area for The Wall Street Journal and a passionate interest of Richard Saul Wurman. Working together, we'll produce a memorable, enlightening and useful conference," said Philip Revzin, a vice president of The Wall Street Journal. 20 years ago, the first TED conference focused on the critical convergence of the technology business, the entertainment industry and the design professions.
This year's TEDMED, the fourth in a series, represents a new pattern of
thought about the business of healthcare that encompasses genetic research,
information technologies, advertising, pharmacology, forensics, epidemiology and
robotics, among other fields.
Now clearly the next unique convergence is focused on the complex businesses
of healthcare that represents 15% of the GNP, including:
1. Understanding yourself through imaging, tests, genomic visualization and
the access to information and diagnosis.
Partnering with The Wall Street Journal, Richard Saul Wurman promises that
this conference will be in the tradition of his past great events, this time
focused on the subject of the greatest importance in this decade - the business
of understanding healthcare.
