TEDMED is … a collaborative experience that challenges, equips and inspires its delegates to think bigger, dream bigger, and be bigger.
– Mary P., Delegate, TEDMED 2013

An annual two and a half day gathering, TEDMED brings together inspiring speakers, influential Delegates, innovative start-ups and a passionate global audience. This November 18-20 our community will gather in Palm Springs, CA and remotely across the globe via TEDMED Live streaming.

70
Speakers

TEDMED was the most stimulating conference I have ever been to. Instead of focusing on one area that closes off your train of thought, you are exposed to a celebration of innovation across all fields - biology, health, technology, humanitarianism, education and the arts. It really stimulates your creative process.

– Charles D., Delegate, TEDMED 2014

Featuring brilliant short talks and stunning artistic performances, TEDMED’s unique stage program reframes the way we think and inspires critical new possibilities for a healthier future.

147
Countries

Participating as a group 'tuning in’ to TEDMED proved extremely powerful for our campus... Thank you for making the opportunity available!
– Nina G., Affiliate, TEDMED Live 2014

Thanks to the support of our partners and Delegates, TEDMED's stage program is shared via live stream at no cost with teaching hospitals, medical schools, government agencies and select non-profits around the world – ensuring those on the frontlines of health and medicine have access to this important content. In 2014, TEDMED Live was accessed in 147 countries by 5000 affiliate organizations representing over 200,000 participants.

1000
Delegates

My favorite part of the experience was the opportunity to meet and engage with so many thinkers, creators and do-ers! In was astounding to me how literally turning to the person next to me and starting a conversation often led to potential collaborations!
– Barbara Natterson Horowitz, Speaker, TEDMED 2014

Location

La Quinta Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, Palm Springs, CA

Frank Capra called it “the Shangri-La of screenwriting.” And it was here at La Quinta, that Capra wrote “It Happened One Night”, winner of five Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Writing.

He went on to pen other classics such as “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” “Lost Horizon,” and of course the holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” All of these now famous Hollywood movies were scripted in the same room at The Hotel La Quinta.

Capra was one of a long line of artists who found creative inspiration in this tranquil desert retreat and ultimately made La Quinta his home.  He believed there was something magical here and TEDMED is excited about incorporating this rich history -- and maybe even a little magic -- into this year’s event as we share important stories in health and medicine.

Plan TEDMED 2015

What’s the best way to travel to TEDMED? What should you pack? Below you can find informative answers and useful guidance for all these questions and many others.

What to Pack

Abundant sunshine, clear blue skies, low humidity, warm temperatures and rarely a hint of rain characterize Palm Springs weather. The average temperature in November ranges from 80F with lows around 48F.  Casual dress is always encouraged for TEDMED – we want you to be comfortable throughout the event.

No need for jackets, suits or ties. Please plan on wearing comfortable shoes to enjoy walking around the stunning property. And, if you plan on taking advantage of TEDMED Health activities, don’t forget to bring exercise attire.

Arriving and Leaving

It's best to arrive early so that you have enough time to settle in before the conference and to plan to stay until the very end of the last session. Each and every one of our talks is integral to the experience.

We suggest making post-conference travel plans, as well. Many folks stay the weekend to relax and continue the conversation. Should you decide to do so, please make the appropriate accommodations.

Integral to the TEDMED experience are the creative collisions and unexpected connections that happen when a multi-disciplinary group of thinkers and doers come together to share thoughts and ideas for shaping a healthier world.

For 2.5 days TEDMED Delegates join speakers, innovators, and artists in a creative and stimulating environment designed to encourage conversation, collaboration and exploration around the important stories shared from the stage and among the members of the community.

Each moment, Delegates are active participants in the TEDMED experience, reinforcing that what happens off the stage is as important as what happens on the stage. As contributors and catalysts, they forge new friendships and partnerships that can inspire new opportunities in their own work and for those around them. For this reason, while at the event, we encourage Delegates to unplug from the outside world and become immersed in this invigorating and unique gathering.

In addition to encouraging important and compelling discussions on our stage and active social spaces, TEDMED also offers the opportunity to relax and recharge both mind and body. To start the day, Delegates are invited to experience the spectacular views of the Santa Rosa Mountains, take an energizing walk around the resort’s grounds, or join a TEDMED Health activity before heading to a delicious healthy breakfast.

Each day is brimming with amazing TEDMED talks, inspiring artistic performances and stimulating social breaks. This can be a lot to take in, we invite Delegates to join the community and unwind at the evening celebrations – complete with food, fun and entertainment.

As with every TEDMED, our goal is for each person to leave inspired and recommitted to the important contributions they make – to their health, the health of their community and the world at large.
